The search for alternatives that minimize the generation of tailings and enable their reuse, leads to characterization studies with objective a better understanding physical, chemical mineralogical properties iron ore tailings. increase in demand high-quality overlapping extraction increasingly lower concentration levels, is part challenge mineral exploitation. In view aforementioned needs, more detailed contributes improvement processing stage reuse generated To this end, an analysis characteristics was carried out through characterization, emphasis on quantitative electron microscopy - QEM. tests revealed predominant phases are hematite quartz and, lesser extent, goethite, gibbsite kaolinite. As degree release, hematite/magnetite has 88.13% its particles totally free, 0.53% associated 6.77% goethite. composition 32.29% Fe, 47.92% SiO2, 2.76% Al2O3, 2.14% PPI. scenario, as main component geometallurgy, makes it possible propose improve beneficiation process
